I’ve been neglecting to mention that in a few days (2, to be exact) I am leaving to spend 6 weeks, maybe more, with my son Matthew and his family in Beijing, China. My daughter, Ellen, will be there too, as an invited literary figure to participate in the Bookworm Literary Festival, March 8-22. She’ll be on panels considering graphic literary media, and to promote her NYT bestselling book, Marbles.
My intention is to use this blog as my private/public diary, as I explore and hopefully extend my understanding and knowledge of the current art scene in China – at the level of emerging artists, and NOT dealing with the international stars who command otherworldly sums for their artistic efforts. The survey report I wrote in 2010 will be my takeoff point. I’m also taking my paint box along, and intend to add to my inventory of Chinese subject matter.
Check back to this website often to follow my efforts.
